The most identifiable use of this fabric is as the name implies - a fabric woven as robe cloth for Monks. The most identifiable color would be chocolate brown followed by antique white or tan, though specific regions and religious practices dictate color uses - sometimes with very bright colors.
Today it's used as fabric for cross stitch, couch covers and furniture material. It has a beautiful drape, a lovely hand and is a quite substantial cloth. Table coverings and window treatments just beg for this fabric.
