Summer Rose/Winter Fell
Weaver: Philo Blakeman. Origin: Bridgeport, CT early 1800s. This particular pattern was woven in the summer/winter weave with indigo blue wool on a natural off white cotton background. This weave structure is often confused with the reversibility of certain coverlets having a light and dark side. A true summer/winter weave has significant differences in the manner of which it is woven with its equal short floats and equal tie downs.
