HOLIDAY RUNNERS

Angel pattern called Ubiquity
From the earliest recorded times it is believed that for the most part angels; whether messenger or guide, remain unseen yet are in indeed among us at all times. Take a close look at the busy pattern representing our hectic lives. Upon a second closer look you will notice angels throughout the runner intricately woven so that they are not easily noticed. Ubiquity is defined as existing everywhere at all times, just as angels in our lives.
Table runner wool/cotton, dry clean only, 14x40 $25.00

History of the 18th C Belsnickel
An ugly, fightening costumed fellow with charcoaled face who traveled from house to house brandishing switches for the naughty and goodies for the well behaved became known as the Belsnickel. Sometimes denied entry into homes until revealing his true identity, it was customary for the mean spirited traveler to enter the home and partake of the family feast. By early 20th Century, the Belsnickel traveled in groups conjuring up a loud, raucous and often drunken folly frequently becoming more rude and obnoxious as the evening wore on. The Belsnickelers practiced this ritual every year for up to two weeks until the new year began.  It is important to note that many countries have their own variation of the Belsnickel.  Some have the appearance of demons, others are more angelic.  The most obvious commonality is "naughty" children are punished and "nice" children get the goodies.
