Gauze - not just a wound dressing or clothing fabric.  It was woven in
many forms as recorded from the early inventories of the 1600s.
Gauze curtaining was often woven plain, striped or flowered.  Another
lesser known fact: thin, sheer window curtains usually hung under draperies
were called: glass curtains. This curtain is extremely durable and
beautiful just like the tobacco cloth.

New Hand Rolled Blind/Panel
Huck Lace fabric
A 1700s fabric that was made
for toweling, curtaining and
table linens.
100% cotton
mach wash: cold, dry: med
Panel 40x72  $45.00
Panel 40x84  $50.00
Hang on 1" rod as a panel or roll
up to desired height to allow light to
shine in as a drawn shade.  Fabric
shades have been around since
the early 19th Century. This curtain
gets its stability from a wood dowel rod
placed in the bottom opening.  We
can supply 36" dowel rods or you can
easily be very primitive and use a stick
from your backyard.  Another option is to
buy an extra 3/8" tension rod for the bottom
opening.  Please specify when ordering.

A lesser known fact:  Ancient Egyptian
pharaohs made and used blinds
made of reeds.
A tidbit worthy of digesting:
It is believed the word "huck" is
derived from the linen toweling
that was peddled by the traveling
"hucksters".
A primitive must!!!

Seine cloth is an extremely early fabric dating back prior to 1500 and originating in the Mediterranean.  Early pieces would have been hand knotted.  The woven version began in the later 1800s with the use of the leno. This particular netting was used primarily as a tool for fishing and gathering, though peasant folk found many uses for it.  Netting was used in a variety of ways such from a protective material to gathering to filtering.  Seine cloth drapes beautifully.  This curtain can be drawn up on either side 1, 2 or 3 times.  There are 3 tabs that run along the top and 3 tabs that run along each side.  You can also choose to hang as a panel. There are many varieties of netting with varying opening sizes and shapes.  Netting has been used for centuries as a light filter on widows. Offered in 3 lengths:
56x45L   $33.00
56x63L   $39.00
