Washable Coverlets

What is a coverlet?  A coverlet is the decorative top cover for your bed.
It hung only partially down along the side of the bed.  Homespun
coverlets were narrow panels generally 36" wide and then
seamed together to make a wider covering.  Most times
you will find 2 panels, although it is not uncommon to find
a third panel.  Most common is that the pattern did not match
on the seams.  This would most likely be reasoned out due to
the nature of weaving by hand where counting would be crutial
to the size of the stripes, number of stripes and so on.  It
is extremely important to pass on that the homespun look should
NOT match.  Dyes during this time would be all natural like bugs,
bark, vegetation, etc.  Coloring would also be varied.

We use recycled yarns.  We seam two panels together.  Our dye
lots vary.  We research the patterns.  We base all of our styling on
original pieces we find as well and we duplicate as close as possible
to the original while trying to keep in mind these reproduction pieces
are to be used daily.
